about us

Since opening it's doors in 2017, Vista Swim Academy is committed to providing quality instruction for student's of all ages; with the lowest group ratios in the area! VSA uses a proven curriculum that pairs the importance of water safety with proper technique in a fun and caring environment. Each lesson will follow guidelines that will provide critical swim skills that could save a child's life in the event of an emergency; while still tailoring each experience to fit the student's specific needs.

Enrolling in swim lessons at a young age ensures that your children will learn this important, life saving skill! However, swimming lessons provide so much more than that. Weekly lessons will provide help students of all ages conquer any fear or anxieties of the water they have, building confidence and independence: not just in the water but in their everyday life. Additional benefits include: proper balance, muscle development, and comfort in a group setting. Each of our instructors are trained to ensure that students build an enjoyment of the water that will support a healthy and active lifestyle.

Located in the hills of Helotes, our pool provides a safe learning environment that is enjoyable for both students, and parents! Students and families alike are able to enjoy the Jaccuzi while waiting for their lessons to begin and parents are invited to relax with a refreshing beverage while overlooking the view, as their child attends their 30 minute lesson.

Owner, Shiloh Hurst, has been swimming for as long as she can remember and teaching swim lessons for over 8 years. There's not a summer in her memory, where she didn't spend as much time as possible at the pool, in the lake, or by the ocean. While extreme water sports have never been her strong-suit, that has not stopped her from trying nearly every time she gets the chance! She has all of her past instructors, and coaches to thank for that confidence.

After re-locating to Texas from California in 2016, Shiloh made the decision to continue her passion for teaching and working with families, by opening her own Swim School. She's proud to share her love for the water with families in San Antonio, Helotes, Boerne and other surrounding areas!

1) How old does my child have to be to begin lessons?

We start lessons at 6 months old! The youngest a child may enter into a group class, without mom or dad is 2.5.

2) What is the teacher to student ratio?

Level 1A has a maximum ratio of 2:1. Parent & Me and Adult classes have a maximum ratio of 5:1. All other group classes have a maximum ratio of 3:1.

3) is the pool heated?

Throughout the Winter, our pool will be heated to 85 degrees. In the summer, it does naturally get warmer than that.

4) Are make-up classes offered?

If Vista Swim is notified at least 24 hours in advance of an absence, 1 make-up class per 6 class session is offered. The instructor will give you a series of options to use as a make-up time. It must be in another time slot than your usually scheduled class. *There are no make-ups for special accelerated lesson weeks*

5) What happens in the event of a closure?

If the pool must be closed due to inclement weather; a sanitary or pool chemical issue, make-ups will be scheduled. These will be scheduled based on the families availability. No refunds are offered for un-avoidable cancellations.

6) Are there refunds?

No refunds will be offered. If you are unable to make a time/session on-going, please contact us. We will do our best to change your schedule or credit your remaining lessons to a new session.

7) What happens if my child doesn't like the class?

It is normal for a child of any age, to take 3 to 4 lessons to warm up to a new teacher and the idea of lessons. Swimming lessons and the pool can be very scary for children, so we must allow time for them to warm up. If after 3 classes, we do not see a difference in how your child is reacting to lessons and the parents and teacher cannot come up with a plan to increase the enjoyment, we will discuss other options.

8) Are there multi-student discounts?

If you have 3 children enrolled at Vista Swim, a discount of 10% will be offered on all lessons.
